Telehealth Therapy:

Thanks to telehealth options, therapy has become more accessible than ever before. There is strong evidence that telehealth therapy is just as successful as in-person therapy in addressing a wide range of mental health issues, including trauma. Many people find the barriers that would stop them from attending sessions such as transportation, childcare, and illness, are not an issue with telehealth, leading to better attendance. When a person is able to be consistent with therapy, they are more likely to reach their goals. This allows people to choose the environment that feels best for them. Maybe this is at home with your favorite pet and other comfort items, or in a private space at work on your lunch break.

Cultivate Counseling is happy to provide this flexible option for Arizona residents to reduce barriers and optimize your success in therapy.

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you” -Friedrich Nietzsche

I’d be honored to fight with you; and perhaps, if we're brave enough, even make peace with the monsters that you may be free. This work is powerful, transformative, and hard. I love it. I’ve been a social worker for the past 15 years, typically drawn to those fighting big monsters like domestic violence, serious mental illness, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and trauma. I like to think of myself as a fairly eclectic therapist with the ability to tailor my approach to the client’s needs.

I received a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Utah Valley University (former LDS… I saw you wondering) and a Master’s in Social Work from Northern Arizona University (...Go Jacks).

I provide individual counseling in my office and over zoom when needed. New mothers are welcome to bring their infants.

I am currently in network with BCBS, United Healthcare and most Aetna plans.

Tempest Black, LMSW, Telehealth-Only Therapist

You are the expert of your life experience, and as your therapist I am glad to walk alongside you as you learn more about yourself.

Systemic oppression affects how we navigate the world and shapes our perspectives. At times, life circumstance, trauma, and mental health struggles can leave us feeling hopeless. I see therapy as a way to restore hope and be the author of our own stories. My passion is to provide space for this reclamation and empowerment.

I received my Master’s of Social Work from Arizona State University. I use a variety of modalities including narrative therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and focus on the mind-body connection.

My areas of interest include neurodivergence, relationship dynamics, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma,

In my free time I write poetry, paint, and play board games. I look forward to meeting you!
