Thanks for visiting this page to learn a bit about completing your masters level counseling internship with Cultivate Counseling.  We deeply value the experience of internship in this field, and we very much enjoy having interns join our team each semester to provide high quality counseling at a reduced rate in our community.  We strive to be a trauma-informed private practice, and we aim to continue growing in our diversity and varying abilities to serve the mental health needs of our beloved Flagstaff community.

We typically accept two interns for each internship cycle, in accordance with the academic calendar year.  We open applications in February/March for interns to start in August, and again in August /September for interns to begin in January.

An internship at Cultivate Counseling consists primarily of individual counseling in a private practice setting, with opportunities to participate or lead groups if you would like.  We provide weekly group and individual supervision on site with our intern coordinator, Dorrie Beckley, LPC.

While continuing on with us as a staff member after internship is neither guaranteed nor required, we do tend to select interns who are local, whose professional and clinical values align with ours, and are interested in the possibility of joining our practice as a staff member.

Previous work experience in the field of mental health is not required to intern with us, however, we do notice that interns with some previous time in community mental health, social work, case management, or related roles do well in our more independent, self motivated, private practice environment.

*At this time it is our policy at Cultivate Counseling that we do not hire interns or staff members who are former or current clients of our therapists, so as to avoid clinical conflicts of interest and associated ethical dilemmas for the protection of our clients and our therapists.

If you are interested in applying, please complete and submit the short form below, along with your resume and a cover letter.  If you have specific questions about whether our internship program will meet your needs, please feel free to reach out to Dorrie Beckley, intern coordinator at dorrie@cultivatecounselingflagstaff.com.

We do tend to receive many applications.  If you are selected for an interview, we will be in touch regarding next steps.  We look forward to reviewing your application packet, and thank you for your contributions to, and hard work in, our collective field.
