Our Internship Program:

Cultivate Counseling is proud to offer low cost/high quality counseling sessions through our counselor internship program. Our counseling interns enable us to reach more clients, and serve our community of Flagstaff in a greater way. Additionally, our interns are in network with BCBS.

Counseling interns are 2nd year graduate students who have completed all of their course work and training for their masters program and are now ready to utilize the skills and interventions. We are highly selective in who we hire as a counseling intern to ensure the highest quality of care.

Benefits of Seeing a Counseling Intern:

  • Counseling interns typically hold a much smaller caseload than our staff counselors, which means more focused time and energy towards you.

  • Our counseling interns have been immersed in the new developments in mental health and research, which means cutting edge treatment for you.

  • It is widely known in the field that counseling interns hold a high level of enthusiasm, passion, and motivation for the work that is different from a counselor who has been in the field for several years.

  • Our counseling interns are highly supervised by our staff, as well as their university professors, meaning you essentially have several therapists working for you for the price of one.

  • Many of our interns have previous experience in the field and there are some cases in which an intern may have more mental health experience than a licensed staff counselor.

  • We offer a reduced rate for seeing a counselor intern, which makes counseling more affordable for you.

Our interns are with us for either one or two semesters, so you potentially have the opportunity to work with them for 4 months or 9 months. We provide a seamless transition for you when your intern has completed their time with us, depending on whether they join us as staff, or if you elect to transfer to another intern coming in. We are so proud of our counseling interns, and we believe what they can offer you is worth your investment and time. We would love to get you connected and started on your healing work with them today!

Hannah Hackett, Supervised intern

I love humans and our messy, beautiful journeys here on earth with all our humanity. When we are provided spaces to be held, seen, and loved in our humanity, powerful things take place. As a counseling intern, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and empathetic support for individuals navigating their unique journeys. My belief in the power of genuine connection and being seen underscores my intention to create a safe and nurturing space where you can explore, reflect, be, and heal.

As a counseling generalist, I find joy in working with diverse individuals across their lifespans and addressing various challenges. In my work, I believe looking at societal factors, systems of power, and cultural narratives that influence our mental health is as important as the individual ones. Guided by person-centered, social-constructivist, and gestalt counseling, my practice integrates various modalities, including mindfulness and somatics. Rejecting a pathologizing approach, I view symptoms as natural adaptations to life's challenges. Together, we can delve into these dynamics with curiosity, kindness, and a willingness to grow.

I received my Bachelor's degrees in Adventure Education and Psychology at Prescott College, and I am completing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling also at Prescott College. Outside of counseling, I love doing yoga, spending time in nature, and building community. I look forward to starting our journey together.

I am currently in network with BCBS (not including AHCCCS and Medicare).
